Shelby Dunster
Research Director, Division of Standards and Survey Methods Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
Shelby Dunster is a director at the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in the division of standards and survey methods. Ms. Dunster’s experience in the area of culture and language includes representation of the Joint Commission on the National Advisory Panel that developed the CLAS standards and as a member of the advisory board for the Office of Minority Health contract with RAND for the development of a cultural competency tool for hospitals. She is currently the grant administrator for the Joint Commission’s 30-month study – Hospitals, Language, and Culture: A Snapshot of the Nation – that is funded by the California Endowment. Prior to her experience with Joint Commission, Shelby earned her bachelors degree in philosophy from Loyola University in Chicago. She also earned a certificate in community organizing from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. |
